i. Microsoft Windows NetMeeting 3
This product enables real-times audio, video and data communication over the internet. NetMeeting includes support for the H.323 audio and video conferencing standard, and the T.120 data conferencing standard. Audio/video is sent over UDP and it’s used Real-Time Transport Protocol(RTP).
ii. Quick Time TV
Quick Time TV used multicast streams take live media from another source, such as a radio or TV broadcast, and stream it out to viewers as a series of unicasts. This is the approach taken by online news networks, such as CNN.com. Stream of live video and audio is sent over UDP and its used RTP.
iii. VideoLan(VLC,VLS)
VideoLAN is designed to stream MPEG videos on high bandwidth networks. It’s can stream MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 files, DVDs, digital satellite channels, digital terrestial television channels and live videos on the network in unicast or multicast. The data in VideoLan is sent over UDP/IP and its used RTSP.
